With Beach season quickly approaching the South Jersey area, SERVPRO® of Cape May County hosted their very first community based Spring Beach Clean-up. Early on Saturday, April 25th, Owner Patrick Jones along with Sales & Marketing Representatives Cory Hanahan & Christopher Siley, were greeted by 25 volunteers.

Once volunteers arrived and equipment was handed out, the 2-mile journey began.  One group of volunteers stayed up by the side of the road to clean up the entrances to the beach, and another took to the beach and dunes.  To make the event even more enjoyable, a scavenger hunt list was generated with a point system depending on what trash was found.  Whichever team tallied the highest points won.  The kids were pumped about the challenge, but the adults were the true kids for the day.  The winning team collected nearly 10 bags worth of trash and was awarded a prize bag filled with SERVPRO® swag.

After 3 hours and two miles of cleaning, everyone made it to Douglass Park and celebrated with a complimentary lunch.  Not only did everyone have a fun day in the sun, but we were able to clean up a trucks worth of garbage off the beach.  Throughout the entire day, we had local residents coming up to the volunteers and thanking them for all the work they had done.  That in and of itself was payment enough to drive everyone to work harder and look forward to the next clean-up.  SERVPRO® of Cape May County hopes to host their next clean-up soon; will we see you there?
