Holiday Safety in Cape May County: Candles

12/2/2016 (Permalink)

Cape May County residents should place fire safety top on their list of priorities this holiday season.

It only takes SECONDS for a flame to start a major fire. Be smart. Be prepared!

Consider using battery-operated flameless candles, which can look, smell and feel like real candles.

  • Put candles in sturdy metal, glass, or ceramic holders.
  • Place candles where they cannot tip over.
  • Never leave a lit candle unattended.
  • Blow out candles after use and before going to bed.

Review these tips with your children and remind them that lit candles should never be left unattended! Better yet - use flameless candles!
